The Institute for Australia India Engagement in conjunction with the Australia India Business Council, Queensland Cricket, Indian Medical Association of Queensland and Bravus Mining hosted the Indian cricket Legend Sunil Gavaskar on 18 October at the Stamford Plaza Hotel in Brisbane to commemorate his 50 years of test debut. Dr Misra is National Sports Chair AIBC, ICC T20 Cricket World Cup Champion and leading Project Multicultural at Queensland Cricket. Dr Misra moderated the event in which Sunil Gavaskar shared memorable insights from his first tour to Downunder Later, Mr Gavaskar was felicitated by the partnering institutions. On the occasion a bat signed by Mr Sunil Gavaskar was auctioned for a whopping $7,000 and bought by Mr Ashwani Soni, and the proceeds will go to the Queensland Cricket Foundation to support community cricket initiatives.
